Anna and Katherine's 2020 Holiday Gift Guide

Every year we love sharing some of our favorite retail items and the items we are buying for our own kids this holiday season! And throughout this weekend, all of these items are 15% off! Shop online here!

Our favorite things

Neon Watercolors

This year, we’ve been into all things neon - neon oil pastels, neon paint sticks, neon paint, neon Plus Plus blocks, neon chalk, and neon Model Magic. But I think our favorite neon item has been this Neon Watercolor Set by Ooly. The colors are so bright that you can even use to paint on dark colored paper. They are also long lasting and come with a really nice brush.

Sweet Shop Chalk Set

After the stay-at-home orders earlier this year and with spending more time outdoors, it seems everyone has a new love for sidewalk chalk. This is such a fun set by Melissa and Doug. It comes with 33 pieces including chalk shaped like all kinds of sweets and treats, a chalk dust stamper to make chalk paint, stencils and my kids’ favorite - the rainbow chalk stick.

Pastel Paint Sticks

If you ask any Art Project Studio Instructor (past or present) her favorite art material, she’d probably say Paint Sticks! There is a reason paint sticks are consistently our top selling retail item every year. They are a great way to get the look/appearance of paint without the messy brushes, water, long drying time and hard clean up. They are non-toxic, washable and dry in 90 seconds. This year, Kwik Sticks brand came out with a pastel color set that we are all obsessed with!

Water Wow Books

Before I became a parent, I didn’t understand the need for all of the Mess-Free coloring books. I thought you just let kids make a mess and that was all part of the process. Then my first child became a toddler… after finding marker scribbles all over the couch and paint on the walls, I quickly understood! These are a great item to keep in your handbag for travel, restaurants or anytime you need a quick mess-free activity. Water Wow books are a great way to let your kids paint at home without dealing with the mess of paint. Plus, you can use them over and over again - just let them dry and the color disappears. And, if you lose the brush, you can just give the kids a regular paintbrush with a cup of water.

Magic Stix , Coloring Books and Sketchbooks

These markers last for 7 days without the cap on them. I first discovered Magic Stix markers after my two year old would never return the caps on the markers and we were constantly having to buy new markers. I didn’t believe they would actually work, but they do! My five year old likes them because they don’t roll when set on the table, they produce really vibrant colors and come in a nice carrying case so they don’t get lost. They are also non-toxic and washable (we’ve tested the washability of them multiple times at our house!)

These markers pair great with these new “Color-In’ Books by Ooly” . We love these coloring books because they are fun and whimsical and have perforated edges which make the colored pages really easy to pull out to hang up.

Does your child like more free-drawing? Pair markers with these fun sketchbooks! Each pack comes with 2 books of blank pages.

Joinks

Joinks have been an Art Project studio favorite since day 1. I’m adding these to our gift guide this year because we have not had them for sale in 2 or 3 years and my kids have these on their wish lists! Joinks are a fun building toy that use suction cups to create flexible/wiggly structures. You can build with on a window or other smooth surface. Bonus - they are super easy to clean!!
