The Art Project's 2025 Holiday Gift Guide
Every year we love to highlight some of our favorite items on our retail shelves. A few are new items and others are new versions of old favorites! The best part is everything is under $50 and can be picked up locally!
Magnatile Dog House ($24)
Magnatiles have been a studio favorite since day one. We have a different version of Magnatiles on our gift guide every year as it is always fun to add something new to your existing set. Plus, they’re great for kids of all ages. Unlike other brands of magnetic tiles, Magnatiles are very durable. We use them in the studio daily and have rarely had to replace any tiles in over 10 years - which is very impressive considering ours get knocked on the concrete floor and cleaned/sanitized daily.
This year, Magnatile introduced new pet sets! We love this cute little Dog House set. It is compatible with all other Magnatile sets unlocking endless hours of open ended play.
Washable Acrylic Markers ($10.99)
We love paint pens for decorating things like rocks, glass, cardboard, plastic, etc. but don’t love that they aren’t washable and leave behind toxic fumes.
These are one of our most favorite studio finds of the year! They give the look of paint pens but are WASHABLE and non-toxic.
Fashion Design Activity Plates ($27.50)
These activity plates are perfect for any budding fashion designer or princess lover in your house. Each set comes with double sided plates that you can mix and match to create your own one-of-a-kind designs. Kids simply snap a piece of regular paper into the frame and rub over the top with a crayon revealing their designs underneath.
Bonus - pair it with a set of watercolor paints so kids can fill in their designs with color!
Kwik Stix Cuties ($10.99)
It is no secret that we LOVE Kwik Stix around here. If you ask any Art Project studio instructor (past or present) what their favorite art material at the studio is, they will likely say Kwik Stix. They are tempera paint in a stick that dry in just a few minutes. They are the perfect way to paint without having to wash brushes, deal with spills and messy wet artwork.
We love the new addition of Kwik Stix “Cuties.” Yes - they’re cute…but the best part is the cuteness factor of the caps leads to no lost caps!
Colourwhirls by Crayola ($5.99)
Does anyone remember the marker spinners we used to make around here using old CD’s? These are like those meets Bey Blades!
First, put down a big piece of paper, then load any marker into the spinner, insert the rip cord and pull it quickly releasing the spinner on the paper. It is so fun to watch it spin around on your paper creating different patterns.
It took a few tries for my 8 year old to figure it out, but once she did she played with it for hours!
Water Wow Drawing Set ($24.99)
Water Wow is another Art Project staple that has been on our list of favorites for years! This year’s new addition of the drawing set is so fun. It includes stamps, stencils, step-by-step drawing guides, search and find scenes, a tethered water brush and more! It comes all zipped up in a case making it perfect for travel, restaurants, etc. Best part of Water Wow? It just uses water so it is art with zero mess! We love to pair this with some water pens like these, which make these great for drawing and practicing letters.
Rhinestone Journal & Matching Pen, $30 for the set
My 8 year old has been begging for this journal since she saw it hit our retail shelves which is how it made it on our gift guide! It is a sturdy book with lined pages and a sparkly rhinestone cover. The matching pen makes it extra fun!
Blockables ($43.99)
These blocks by Melissa & Doug are new to the studio. They are simple shapes that are stackable but also connectable using little pegs - like classic blocks meets Lego’s! Perfect for open ended play. All sets are compatible with each other. We have 3 sets - a classic starter set, dino’s and farm!
